This exciting and innovative project aimed at developing the Magor & Undy Walkway Station, to serve the growing communities of Magor with Undy. The population of which  currently stands at 6500 and will grow to circa 10,000, in the next five years. The aim is to make Magor & Undy Station, a unique community owned station, that would be a walk to, rather than a drive to. Our preferred site would be no more than 20 minutes’ walk from every house in the community. It would be able to integrate with over 50 bus services a day and would fulfil the criteria for Welsh Government Active Travel (walking or cycling to work). it could potentially reduce the vehicle movements from the village to Severn Tunnel Junction by circa 60,000 per year. We will have to do a GRIP 1/2 Study for the preferred site. The estimated cost of the feasibility study is £40,000.  As the MAGOR group (Magor Action Group on Rail) is a small group of residents, we are trying to raise £20,000 in order to secure match funding streams. Two weeks ago we launched a Crowdfunder Project to try and raise the £20,000. If you care about rail and the environment, please help us to put right for future generations a little of the wrong that Dr Beeching did 50 years ago. If 3500 of caring people pledged £5 each, before the 1st of March 2015, MAGOR will reach the target and Magor & Undy Walkway Station will be a step nearer. Please, please help by going to www.magorstation.co.uk and follow the Crowdfunder link.
